Angela Elliss possesses a BSc (Architecture) degree from Newcastle University. She graduated with merit in 1998. Angela is principal designer as well as project & business manager at the Central Coast based design studio.

My husband and I used Angela Elliss Design to help us create our new ‘Hamptons’ style home. This is the first time we have built a house this way, so it was quite a daunting process for us to consider using a building designer. However once we spoke to Angela, and meet on the building site it seemed to become all that much easier.

Yes, it was Angela Ellis's terrific website that first put me onto her but soon I discovered that there was more to her than just a pretty website.
Thing is, renovating a house that is in a difficult position and neglected for 15 years is a complex and potentially stressful exercise.
That was our starting point. We had a pole house at Avoca Beach on a steeply sloping site. We'd been overseas for years, and it had suffered the depredations of generations of renters. We weren't even sure that it was structurally sound - disturbing cracks had appeared in odd places and the floor was sagging alarmingly under a much too heavy fireplace.
Now you may think that buildings designers are only good for twirling their bow ties as they think up ever more impractical ideas. Many of you may have had that experience. Angela is different. She does beautiful designs but she thinks carefully about practical matters and manages their execution. She got us an engineer who told us that our building was structurally sound, and advised on what loads we could put on it. She managed the process of tendering for builders. She's a Central Coast local so she knows who's good and who isn't. She managed the relationship with the builders, always a potential source of conflict and angst. It soon became quite clear that the builders respected her and would listen to her ideas and instructions. One builder told me that they preferred to deal with her over most other designers working on the Central Coast.
I have done several major renovations and I don't recall one which went so smoothly. And at the end of the process she listed all the small defects and oversaw their rectification. All in all a very satisfactory experience. You can put your work in her hands with confidence.

About 15 years ago we bought an eclectically designed home on a acres in Ourimbah NSW.
We knew it needed renovating but we needed someone to help us relate our needs, and the way our family lived, into plans. We also needed to improve the overall aesthetic of the home, and Angela's help was pivotal in designing spaces that worked for a young family.
Angela has helped us with two renovations over the years. The first was apparently the quickest DA approval Angela had ever experienced, the second, Angela mentioned, was one of the most trying DA applications she has worked on.

Angela I would like to thank you for a great job done on our home at Killcare. Our house used to be a very dark and cold mud brick house that really was in desperate need of an overhaul. It was poorly orientated and uncomfortable to live in.
We approached Angela to design an addition but to also improve on the existing house that needed to be environmentally friendly, would capture the wonderful north east breeze as well as the northern sun that we now enjoy in our living areas.

It has been a pleasure working with Angela over the years. Angela has completed two projects for us so far, our home renovation at Wagstaffe and our cottage at Moppy.
Our home had a very poorly designed downstairs area, it was dark and damp. Angela redesigned this space so it functioned much better. She was able to connect us with the right people to complete various parts of the job including a colourist as well as a waterproofing specialist.
Our very modern cottage in Moppy is just about complete and we just love it. The bathroom has corner walls that slide away leaving the bathroom open to private acres, just wonderful during a downpour, and our kitchen doubles as the outside BBQ area.
We would certainly recommend Angela Elliss Design to friends and may again be calling upon Angela's skills in the near future!

We engaged Angela to help us find the perfect block to build a new home on a budget.
Angela vetted potential blocks for us, so we could make the smartest investment choice. We all agreed that a block at Copacabana would allow us to have the beach lifestyle we were looking for, as well as the holiday rental return that made good financial sense.
The site we chose is within walking distance to the beach. We bought it for a very good price but the site was extremely steep. As an owner builder I was very happy with the design as we didn’t need to excavate or retain a lot. The job could have been complex and expensive.
Due to the slope & tree coverage we did not think we would get ocean views. As we removed a few trees we now see views to Copacabana Beach and may have designed a little differently had we known we would definitely get views.
The main deck location is in the best spot for views and receives the morning sun, and we see beautiful winter sun penetration into the heart of the home throughout the day. Anybody who enters the house notices there is a good deal of natural light in the living spaces facing south. This is due to a great deal of planning and good design around the; sun, views and window locations. During summer the living areas are protected from harsh heat and we enjoy cooling summer breezes.
Visitors just love the design. It’s a simple shaped three storey building but as a result of adapting to the site slope it’s also very unique.
Angela suggested the external materials on the house and we are really happy with the recommendations.
The site was difficult to build on and I was an owner builder. Would I do it all over again? Yes. It was challenging but also very rewarding. I would definitely recommend Angela and her team to help you create your new home.
